Jim Jackson: 06 Kobe is dissatisfied with the coach letting Parker fight so he doesn t protest π€
Recently, former NBA player Jim Jackson talked about former Lakers teammate Kobe on the podcast show "Podcast P".
When asked about Kobe's 3-1 lead and negative game in the 2006 playoffs, Jackson said: "He didn't take a shot. We led 3-1, and I said to the guys in Phoenix, 'First round out!' Smarsh Parker did a great job of defense against Steve Nash in the first four games, but then, Smarsh began to deviate from his game style. Phil (Jackson) seemed to leave it alone, and Kobe was very angry about it. That's what really made Kobe angry. The players started to deviate from their original role and the 3-1 lead, and the coach did nothing.
"I think Kobe was proving a point of view that you had to grasp the problem and stop the situation as soon as possible. I was surprised that Phil actually made this worse, which was inconsistent with the image of Phil as a coach I knew. That's what causes the problem, because Allen McGee and I were sitting on the bench and thinking 'He didn't shoot, he didn't even look at the rim. β In my opinion, I think itβs to prove a point to the coaching staff. β
