Heine: Bayern s main goal is always the Bundesliga, the Champions League is just icing on the cake & details determine success or failure

Bayern Chairman Heiner was interviewed today and talked about Bayern's season goals and competitors.

- You were eliminated in the Champions League quarterfinals last season. What are the goals for the new season?

"It's always important to emphasize this: guys, let's keep our feet on the ground! Of course, Bayern competes in all competitions to win the championship - that's our goal. But we also have to make it clear: the Champions League is the pinnacle of European football, and to win this championship, everything has to be perfect."

"In the past two years, we have seen small details that have determined success or failure - including our match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. Our main goal is to win the Bundesliga. It's been like this, this season, and will always be. The rest are icing on the cake, so to speak, like the winning goal in stoppage time."

- Leverkusen lost Xavi Alonso and several key players. Do you still see them as a threat?

"We usually focus on ourselves. But Leverkusen has been working very well overall for decades; you just need to think about the times of Kalmond and Wallar. They performed very well in the previous season. It is an extremely big challenge for any club to stay at the top level year after year like Bayern. We must also reprove ourselves every year."

- How is Dortmund?

"Everything we heard from Dortmund shows that Niko Kovac injected new energy into the team in the second half of last season."
