Today is the 62nd birthday of jazz legend Carl Malone. Let us wish him a happy birthday.
Carl Malone was born on July 24, 1963 in Samufield, Louisiana, USA. In the 1985 NBA Draft, Malone was selected by the Jazz with the 13th pick in the first round. He spent the first 18 seasons of his career with the Jazz, forming a famous league with Stockton's "Black and White Double Demons". Due to his strong physical fitness, Malone also got the nickname of "Postman". In the 2003-04 season, Malone joined the Los Angeles Lakers with a minimum salary and formed the "F4" combination with Gary Payton, O'Neal and Kobe, but in the 2004 finals, they lost to the Pistons and missed the championship. On February 14, 2005, Ma Long announced his retirement. On March 23, 2006, the Jazz retired Malone's No. 32 jersey and erected a bronze statue for him in the Delta Center Square. On April 6, 2010, Malone was inducted into the Ney-Smith Hall of Fame.
Marron was selected for the NBA All-Team for 11 consecutive times in his career (1989-99), and was selected for the NBA All-Defensive Team for 3 consecutive times (1997-99), twice as regular season MVP (1997, 1999), twice as All-MVP (1989, 1993), and twice as as All-Minute MVP (1989, 1993), and was selected for the 14th NBA All-Star lineup (1988-98, 2000-02). Malone won gold medals with the American Dream Team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In 1996, Malone was selected as the NBA's 50 superstar. In October 2021, Malone was selected as the NBA 75 superstar.
Marron played 1,476 games in his NBA career, scoring a total of 36,928 points, ranking third in history. Malone averaged 25.0 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game, shooting 51.6% from the field, 27.4% from three-point shooting percentage and 74.2% from free throw percentage.
