Away game against Arsenal! Alvarez: Atletico Madrid can beat any team and is in good form

Atletico Madrid forward Alvarez attended the pre-match press conference for the Champions League away game against Arsenal to answer questions related to the game.

Atletico Madrid’s performance in away games is poor, why? Is it an efficiency issue?

Alvarez: We are in good shape, but in away games we lack more decisiveness. We also need to improve on the defensive end to avoid being scored by our opponents, and then we need to stay sharp on the offensive end to win the game.

Is this a special challenge for you?

Alvarez: This is an important stage because of the opponent and because of this event, we must focus on winning every game. This format forces us to score points in order to be as high as possible in the overall standings.

Are you ready to become Atletico Madrid's leader in the Champions League?

Alvarez: A person will always set goals, but I don’t think about the outside world’s evaluation of me. I'm just focused on training as hard as I can, performing my best, helping my teammates and growing as a player. They also helped me grow as a football player. In this way, together we can help the team.

What else does the team need to reach 100%?

Alvarez: We can beat any team. We have a very good squad. We didn't have the best start and we had injuries, but we've gone from weak to strong and now we're in the best shape.

Would you feel more nervous before such a game? What are your expectations for the competition? Are there few opportunities?

Alvarez: In a game like this, there's always something different, but in terms of execution, it's the same for me: Give 100% and prepare like I prepare for all my games. Yes, we must be decisive. We know the opponents we're going to face and we know the stadium we're going to play on. With our weapons we can play a great game.

What do you think is the difference between the Premier League and La Liga?

Alvarez: In England, the team has more transition attacks and the wingers are faster, but there are many similarities. Football is football after all. Arsenal are a great team, they like to have the ball and are strong at set pieces. But we, with our superiority, can pose a threat to them.
